Spiritual BDSM
This is a blog by Master Michael Samadhi and his slave/wife Serafina. It is still relatively young, but I felt that the level of conversation and original pictures really warranted a review. The couple enjoys Tantra and BDSM, and they definitely communicate about their lives in a very real (and sometimes quite raw and vulnerable) way. They have BDSM and kink articles about things like Darlex and Hepatitis. Michael shares assignments that he has written for his partner. The review section is a breath of fresh air, since it deals with things like collars and EMT scissors. I didn't see any standard "sex toy" reviews, but loved reading over scene music recommendations and experiences with hemp rope suppliers. Here is a sample of the sort of thing you'll read from Michael: "If a slave is somebody who has been totally devalued, I'd not want to command them, I'd want to shelter and protect them until they felt valued and human. My style of domination isn't depersonalizing, in fact quite the opposite, it's expressed by continually pushing for growth, empowerment, and enlightenment within the rituals and devotions of submission." I don't know about you, but I find that pretty darn hot. A nice start to a thoughtful and interesting blog! - Vamp

Sexperience
The Sexperience website (from the Sex Education Show on Channel 4 in the UK) is a fabulous educational site based on shared personal experiences! You can look at the interactive Sexperience 1000 survey, which is the data from 1000 UK citizens who were asked about their sexual experiences and health. The graphics used to explain the data are brilliant, and allow for you to visually sort by things like gender or age. You can also decide to follow a specific responder, looking at all of their answers individually. The rest of the site has videos on topics such as orgasm, STIs, and pregnancy. The content is fairly pansexual, so if you search for videos about body confidence you'll get a mixture of gay and heterosexual responses. An excellent resource for folks wanting to hear personal stories about sexuality! - Vamp

Moms in Babeland
One of my favorite sex toy stores is Babeland, so I was delighted to discover that a bunch of the mothers who work for the infamously sex positive and women-friendly boutique had gotten together to start a blog about love, sex, and parenting. There are about ten writers here at the moment, and you can search the entries by listed topics. The blog also covers in store events that are relevant to pregnant women (such as classes on sex during and after pregnancy). The blog is fairly new, but there is already quite a bit here. The owners of Babeland (Rachel Venning and Claire Cavanah) are both contributing authors. - Vamp

Exploring Intimacy
Dr. Ruth Neustifter (or "Dr. Ruthie") is a published author, presenter, activist, university instructor, and relationship coach. She holds a doctoral degree in Child & Family Development with specializations in Couples and Family Therapy and Qualitative Research. So, she really knows her stuff. This site consists of a blog that discusses various sexuality issues, such as "Pussy Cosmetics and Vagina Myths". She also posts video blogs like the highly instructional "How-To Video: Loving Your G-Spot". I found these videos to be very well done! They are educational without being overly technical or clinical. There are also some video reviews of products that are supplied by places like Babeland. Those reviews seemed pretty thorough, and I appreciated that she pointed out things like glycerin content and latex friendliness. There are some really nice free pdf files available in the resource section that deal with vibes, lubes, anal toys, fantasy development, and coaching. She also does relationship coaching consultations over the phone or skype, and runs a group for sex-positive professionals as well. A great resource for responsible sexual health and sensuality information! - Vamp

Charles Glickman
If we had a "Sex Positive God" category, then this man would be in it! He holds a doctorate in Adult Sexuality Education, and is also certified as a Sexuality Educator by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists. As a trained sexologist he currently oversees all of the Good Vibrations sex education projects, gives tons of workshops, and offers personal consultations (at his physical location of San Francisco or over the phone). His website serves primarily as a blog in which he discusses human sexuality, and how it overlaps with other tricky bits of socially constructed experience such as race and gender. So, you won't see a bunch of remedial essays describing what a penis is or how to give a blow job. What you will get a lot of are great little gems like "STIs Don't Make You Dirty" and "Sexwork is to Trafficking as Sex is to Rape". If you are looking for something beyond how-to articles, then you will be immensely pleased by the level of academic discourse here. A wonderful resource, and a great read! - Vamp

PinkSexGeekdotcom
Crista is a self-described "sex geek". I think that I'm in love with that term, since it does a wonderful job of describing her personal energy and experience with sex while staying far away from the preachy sounding word "educator". She works at a sex shop and has a lot of opinions about toys, lube, and such. I found her musing particularly interesting, since she could also factor in feedback from clients of the store. She obviously follows stories about sex positive culture, so she often links to and discusses political and social issues surrounding sexuality. One of the most powerful things she does, in my opinion, is discuss her personal experiences with abortion. A well written, smart, brave, and interesting blog! - Vamp

veiled lyric
This site is for folks interested in cybersex (or for those who have always wondered what kind of conversations people have while cybering). It is the brainchild of a self-identified HIV positive woman named WildHoney, who found new freedom in cybersex after her diagnosis. She has a few brief essays on why and how people cyber, and what not to do while having virtual sex. An example of her advice is, "...[T]here is no such thing as honesty in a chat room. Ever. You need to go into the rooms knowing that up front." In addition to this material, she shares over 50 chat sessions on different topics (although most are heterosexual in nature). It was fascinating to read how those sessions unfolded verbatim, sort of like a form of intellectual voyeurism. She links to Chatropolis, just in case you are inspired to go try it yourself. There are also a few affiliate galleries of pictures, and some HIV info from the CDC. A charming little labor of love, and a titillating read that might inspire you to try cybering. My only caveat? Some of the links are blind, even though they are not intentionally misleading or problematic. - Vamp

The Violet Wand Store
If you've ever wanted to look dramatic and magical while having sex, it is hard to beat a toy that can make lightning spring from your tongue. Violet wands are a kind of electrostimulation toy that can give sensations from mild tingles to painful shock, and this store is one of the best sources for them that I've ever seen online. You don't know how to use one? No worries. This site actually has an extensive education section that explains just about everything you'll ever need to operate one in a safe, creative, and enjoyable manner. I was very impressed with the responsible and informative nature of the writing here. The customer service, contact, warranty, privacy, and other information were also clearly stated and easy to find. There are many more options for payment than I am used to finding on an adult toy store site, including a layaway plan. The products on the site include just about everything you'd ever need to play with these tools including full pre-built violet wand kits (from 7-40 pieces), rakes, combs, spirals, massaging electrodes, cautery/branding, probes, transport and storage options, and conductive toys. If you want to build your own kit, they guide you through that process as well. They accept orders from North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. There are a lot of "extra mile" features to the customer service here, including 24/7 support and an amazing exchange program. There is even a better price policy, that helps to give you the best price there is on an item. I am extremely impressed! It has been a long time since I've felt like a kid reading through a Christmas catalogue, but this site gave me that feeling. - Vamp

The National Sexuality Resource Center
Wow, it was really my pleasure to review this site! The National Sexuality Resource Center is a part of San Francisco State University, and this site is full of highly literate and reliable information about human sexuality. The NSRC has this to say about the purpose of their web presence,"It's hard to find illuminating, honest and engaging stories about sexuality in the mainstream media--and that's what makes NSRC special. We strive to promote healthy sexuality, dispel myths and encourage sexual literacy for everyone." You'll find their publications, research, dialogue section (social networking tool designed to connect folks who work with sexuality issues), and upcoming training information on the site quite swiftly using their great navigation system. You can also look up article of particular interest to you, such as those dealing with sex and disability. This is an astounding resource, and will go in my personal bookmarks list. It is worth noting that they have a Spanish language section as well. - Vamp

Kink Academy
While it would be nice to attend weekend-long in-person training seminars about all the fun sexy stuff we'd like to learn, life makes such pursuits very difficult for most of us. Family, work, travel arrangements and money often stand in the way, but with access to a site like KinkAcademy.com anyone can gain kinky knowledge from the comfort of a favorite armchair. The site offers grown-up sex-ed covering the basics (such as putting on a condom) all the way to the advanced (medical play, for example). In reading through their list of potential topics I had to stop and look things up -- and I'd like to think that I've got a pretty good idea of most of the kinky stuff people do. Not all of those topics are covered by the videos currently online, but more are being added all the time. Right now there's an excellent selection of topics presented by sexuality educators, professional sex workers and others who have extensive experience in their subject areas. I really liked the comfortable style employed by the presenters. It felt like meeting a close friend for coffee and conversation. Safety aspects of the riskier activities (such as fire play and anallingus) are thoroughly covered. KinkAcademy.com serves as a great resource for folks too far away from -- or too shy to attend -- in-person sex-ed events. --aag

Bedroom Angels Bedtime Stories
This site offers a wide variety of free erotic stories of varying qualities and lengths. They are grouped by categories like anal, fetish, and group sex. It is free to publish a story here, and people can leave comments and rate content. The site has clear writer's guidelines and legal info, but the contact info is form only. They do not accept stories that feature underage people, rape, abusive situations, graphic violence, unwilling participants, drugging, dangerous sexual acts, suicide, death, or animals. In addition to the story archive, they offer some sex advice and news. A pretty nice free story site, even if the content really didn't ring my bell. - Vamp

This is Go-To Girl
Go-To Girl is a "no-nonsense, bossy sexpert." People send her questions like, "Here's my question: is it possible to transmit oral herpes to genitals and vice versa?" She then goes on to explain the answer, which in this case is definitely yes. She tends to reply in very frank, humorous, and informative ways. I think the tone is very female friendly, and it will appeal to anyone who reads things like GoAskAlice.com. A delightful, well written, and informative blog! - Vamp

Sex Talk for Wicked Women
This blog is associated with Lady Jaided magazine and the full title of it is "Lady Jaided's Sex Talk for Wicked Women: Conversations with Women Who Refuse to Behave." Well, what is not to love about that? This blog discusses everything from the texture of semen to female sexual health issues and gender roles around the world. I found it fun, informative, sex-positive, and empowering. I think that folks that enjoy the tone of Jane's Guide will enjoy Susan Edwards' writing as well. Definitely stop by and give this blog a good read! - Vamp

Your Embrace
This is a site about human sexuality, and it is strongly geared towards heterosexual couples in committed relationships. It has a collection of extremely brief articles on everything from romance to anal sex. Most of the information is pretty basic stuff, but it is a good reminder (and there are a few gems in there). There is an erotic stories section with about 30 stories, and they are currently taking submissions. Most of the writing is by Dr. Joy Davidson and Robert W. Birch, Ph.D. - Vamp

Dr J's Sex Facts
This is the blog of Dr. Janice Epp, a Clinical Sexologist. She offers up a lot of sound advice about sexuality and sensuality in her journal entries, which often times deal with questions from readers. This is a great opportunity to get good quality information from an authority on the subject (while being able to remain anonymous). Some of the current topics include self-pleasuring and climbing out of the gender rut. A great resource!- Vamp

Smoocherie
Cherie is a self described "32 year old, polyamorous, intentionally unmarried, childfree by choice, transhumanist, smoochy female living in Central Florida." She has put together a pretty nifty compilation of original essays on topics such as safer sex, alternative relationship models, childfree-by-choice life, and relationship issues. She links to a blog and shares photos of herself as well. I can tell she has put a lot of work into providing this resource, and I'm really impressed. - Vamp » More Info!

Sexy Maven
This is a pretty new blog, but I wanted to call attention to it because there are few of them out there that deal with Herpes so frankly. The author is a 30 something sex positive woman who writes smoking hot erotica about her sex life, and who frankly discusses her discovery of herpes just last year. I find it interesting that so few blogs talk about this, when it is a very common issue. As the writer says in her journal, "When I found out I had genital herpes last year, I was shocked to discover that 1 in 5 adults have the HSV2 virus, and as many as 90% don’t know they have it." As I said, this is a super new blog so there isn't much here yet. Right now things break down into erotica, stuff about abbywinters.com, current affairs, and herpes. I look forward to where she is going with this though, as I think it could be a really wonderful resource and she seems like a infinitely interesting person with a rare streak of extreme honesty. I put the ad content to "Medium" as abbywinters.com is mentioned and displayed in a way that seems ad like. It certainly didn't get in the way of my reading pleasure, however. - Vamp

We Review Sex Toys
I love sites that do sex toy reviews, as there just aren't enough of them out there (which is why we now have Lippy Imp doing them for us as well). This site does a really great job of thoroughly describing the product, which in and of itself is a major service. They list the material it is made out of, color, dimensions, battery info, and also rate it and tell you the level of experience they think you should have to use it. Men and women review toys, and the reviewers seem to think of interesting ways to investigate or describe what they are playing with. For example, one male reviewer mentioned that a toy "meant" for approximating oral sex for men might be used by women because the lips on the fake mouth felt so lifelike that they may feel good on a woman's genitals. Bravo! I like creativity and thoroughness in a review. The site does link to an affiliate store that sells what they review, but the reviews seemed pretty unbiased. I loved this place! They have a fairly helpful FAQ as well. » More Info!

Come As You Are
This co-op run sextoy store from Canada is definitely doing everything right, from their easy to browse online outlet to their in-store workshops. The design is pleasing, no flashing graphics or tasteless descriptions. It's a bright, fun interface. All of the items have good descriptions as well as photos - and thankfully, photos of the items OUT of the box, which is important. I don't know about you, but I can't stand trying to figure out what a toy might look like/do by viewing a box with a pornstar on the cover. They have a wonderful selection of high quality toys for both boys and girls, safer-sex supplies, books and DVDs. I particularly liked the way they categorized and described the DVD titles - perfect for someone trying to figure out what to try who isn't particularly video-savvy. The Toronto store location offers the aforementioned workshops, with subjects like female ejaculation, anal play, flogging 101 and so on. You can buy tickets online too, which is pretty cool. They also offer a host of articles on the site about picking out toys, care and cleaning, anal play, allergies and more. Definitely in the upper-echelon of toystores. Contact info is great, shipping, returns and privacy are all stated. -- Jane » More Info!

Doxy's Phone Slut Blog
I LOVE this site by Doxy Wringer! It is simply the most informative and interesting site dealing with the topic of phone sex that I've ever seen. There is a well written and very funny journal that gets updated pretty regularly. There are also helpful articles that explore what sort of clients she has dealt with, what you should know about phone sex numbers before calling, and even tips and information about how to become a phone sex worker! There is erotic fiction and poetry, cute artwork, and even a few just-for-laughs bells and whistles. This site is an amazing and humorous look into the behind-the-scenes stuff that you've always had questions about, but didn't know who to ask. I thoroughly recommend this site, and I think the article "Phone Sex 101" is a MUST read for anyone thinking of phoning a sex line. Aside from being a site that just plain rocks, Doxy also has a lot of info about how to call her or one of the other workers she's associated with. Hot, intelligent, and funny!
