I really wanted to give these folks a great review, but the customer service info just wasn't there. The Toronto-based company sells "...[E]rotic massage oils, edible massage oils, arousal lotions, warming potions and personal lubricants." The edible massage oils come in flavors like watermelon, hot caramel, creamsicle, and cherry. They list their ingredients for all of the products. I noticed a lot of stuff like avocado oil, peppermint, ginseng, and menthol. I'm guessing quite a few of these items warm up, so go easy at first. Contact info appears to be email only. I didn't see any customer service information, or in depth and serious discussion of what the less obvious products actually do. There is just a lot of talk about how they will stir up desire and encourage sensuality. I may be old fashioned, but I always want to know HOW something plans on doing that. Does it just smell pretty, warm up, taste good, make me sprout feathers? What? As you are surfing, you should know that there is sound on almost every page. An intriguing start, and I'd love to give them a better review if they offer more customer service and product information. - Vamp
This site involves going on a bit of a mental journey to Renaissance Venice. After you enter, you will have a chance to register (for free) for many sections. This is somewhat inconvenient, as they have separate registration procedures. Once registered, you can access all of the delicious stories inside that have been reviewed by other users. You'll find romance, gay/lesbian, BDSM, poetry, fanfic, vampire stories, and other alternative erotica. There is also a chat section, and a lot more. I couldn't access the gallery for some reason, so I'm unsure of what is in that area. There is a neat social networking section that is also free, and it seems like they have the start of a really helpful writer's workshop/community over there. Naughty Cards provides free e-cards using images ranging from the boring (roses) to the graphic (models masturbating). It's a very simple site, but it works: you pick an image, write a message, and it's sent to whomever you deem worthy. Thankfully there are categories set up to make exploring their large stock of "card" images easier; the categories range from simple (naughty level: mild, moderate, very) to more stringent (theme, e.g. "get well"). Although I found a lot of the e-cards offered to be nauseatingly cheesy, there were a few gems and my favourites were definitely the vintage cards where you can type your own cover message. I do imagine you'll end up on mailing lists if you opt to send something - they have a privacy policy stated, but it's long and definitely doesn't give one the feeling that it'd be easy NOT to get spam (oops, I mean "offers") later.
What is a scally lad? It is short for "scallywag", and it usually refers to a slim young man with an athletic build. He usually wears sportswear (like sneakers and ballcaps), has a crewcut or shaved head, comes from the working/lower middle class, and is more than a bit streetwise. This site is full to the brim with them, and I counted about 66 galleries of content. They are updating at least twice a week though, so that is growing quickly. I went into this one thinking it might end up being my favorite website ever, since I love to see blooper/behind the scenes video of porn shoots. My first surprise upon entering was that there were around 8 episodes total. If you add all of the time up, that still comes to a little over 3 1/2 hours. Then I tried to play the movies, and I ended up figuring out that they just didn't work right in the newest Firefox. So, I switched to Safari. They worked fine in Safari, and were available in wmv and flash. I chose streaming flash, and found the next surprise! These are non-English porn sets. So, a lot of the chattering and stuff was lost on me. There is someone that types a few words every once in awhile to add some English commentary, but it isn't a transcript of what is being said. It is more often something like, "Nice boobs." There are some English words that pop up, but they are rare. The streaming was a bit choppy for me, but that may have been my connection. There were scenes that involved hardcore sex, and some of the moments were charming even without understanding the native language of the actors. The awkward moments and difficulty in positioning being some of those. Most of the time they spend looking at the floor, watching people adjust lights, seeing the back of the photographer, seeing people put on makeup, or watching people eat. It was a bit too much like the real behind the scenes secret of the adult industry: sets are often boring or awkward. So, I didn't end up laughing very often or even getting turned on. Another worry about this site? The support information is simply a form you fill out and send to someone. I love the idea of this place, but I just wasn't feeling it. CherryPuff is an inexpensive movie viewing site. I didn't see a download option, but for the monthly fee you can do a lot of watching. They offered over 20 categories of movies, and most categories I looked at had several pages of half a dozen movies each. Viewing is either through WMV or RealPlayer. I ran into a brief rebuffering each time I moved the slide bar, but your mileage may vary. A nice extra is a page showing how you can view the movies on your TV. One thing to be aware of is an "opt out" pre-checked box to avoid if you don't want them sending you email. - Peter
